10/25 Applied for cash account
10/26 Account approved
10/26-27 Setup ACH link and deposited 10k
10/29 $500 bonus posted
10/30 setup calendar reminder to withdraw on 2/1 (90 day hold required)I think I'll have spouse get an account too.
Looks like tastyworks uses Plaid to set up the ACH link. Any concerns about entering your bank login credentials? It seems Plaid is becoming more commonplace...
There is a micro deposit option if you prefer. There is also a check deposit option.

There is a micro deposit option if you prefer. There is also a check deposit option.
The micro deposit option is hidden under "my account is not listed here" or similar (e.g. if you select BOFA, they will force you to login to your BOFA account, you can't do trial deposits unless you select "not listed" first). I do not share login credentials, ever.
Here's my timeline:
Apply 10/26 morning
Approved 10/26 evening
Add ACH 10/26 late night
ACH Trial Deposits Received 10/28 morning
Transfer $10k 10/28 morning (before their 1pmCST cutoff)
Bonus $500 paid 10/29 really late night (didn't see it until 10/30, but the transaction is coded 10/29)

$50 for $100 Cash Offer Terms and Conditions
This offer is valid for new or existing Fidelity Brokerage Services LLC ("Fidelity") customers who open and fund a new, eligible Fidelity account with a minimum of $50 on or after October 18, 2021 through Fidelity.com/go/special-offer. Offer is limited to one account per individual.
Eligible accounts include The Fidelity Account, Fidelity Cash Management Account, Fidelity Roth IRA, or a Fidelity traditional IRA. No other accounts are eligible for this offer.
https://www.fidelity.com/go/offer-faqs
In the terms and conditions it says:
For individuals who open a Roth or traditional IRA account, in order to be eligible to contribute to the IRA (traditional or Roth) you will need to have earned income at least equal to any IRA contribution made for 2021. Individuals who max out their contribution for the calendar year are also not eligible for the bonus award.Has anyone been told if the $100 bonus will be shown as an IRA contribution, rather than earnings?
I am wondering if that statement is there because the $100 will be a contribution and so, if you have maxed out, you would not get it because it would cause you to exceed the contribution limit. A more convoluted interpretation could be that if you have already contributed the max, you won't be able to open a $50 account and so will not be eligible.
That's a great question that I would also like to know the answer to.

I think it's referring to the $50, but you won't likely be able to get a good answer, bonus posting is automatic and the reps likely to not know the inner workings.

It looks like someone got the answer on Reddit, it appears to be an official response from a Fidelity rep:
The promotional reward is deposited into the newly opened account. In IRAs, the deposit will not count as a contribution.
https://www.reddit.com/r/fidelityinvest ... omo_taxed/
The response does repeat the confusing: Individuals who max out their contributions for the calendar year are also not eligible for the bonus award. So it appears that what they really mean is something like: "Individuals who have already maxed out their contributions for the calendar year would not be eligible to make a $50 contribution to the new IRA account and thus would be unable to qualify for the bonus award." (They might also want to avoid the possibility that someone over-contributes and then withdraws the $50 as an excess contribution as soon as the bonus posts.)

No risk on this one. They don't pay? Contact them via chat. Still don't pay? Yank the money back, not much of a big deal, would be annoying, but nothing to stress over

Why not just send Tastyworks a message to verify?
Also, upon account log-in, in the bottom right hand corner, it should state the promo "referral" code of "GIVE_ME_FIVE_2021", which is mentioned as a requirement in the offer terms.

You guys. I'm always wary about interfering with the automated process, lest I lose my bonus for whatever reason. They can always pull it at their discretion. It's literally a two day wait. Don't poke the bear.

Nice bonus.
IRAs don't seem eligible:
The following accounts are ineligible to receive any cash deposit: any retirement, custodial or trust.
Be sure your securities are traded by M1:
any security transferred via ACATS that is not traded by M1 will be liquidated, including but not limited to Mutual Funds and Over-The-Counter securities.
And maybe don't play games:

I think the promotion for etrade has expired. I used https://us.etrade.com/promo/choose-your-offer-4k but the page no longer exists.
The promo at that link has indeed expired, but there's another active E*Trade bonus offer:

Maybe I understood, I thought the point was getting a promo that gives bonus to existing customers. I have never tried asking them to match a new account bonus as an existing customer.

M1 Finance may charge the account for the cost of the offer at its sole discretion.
Last time us and others checked: IRAs worked just fine. Their meaning of Retirement accounts mean (me guessing) - transfers from 401K account to M1 IRA won't work for this bonus offer. In such case, roll over your old 401k into an IRA at wherever, then use M1 ACATS for transfer-in.
There are certain oddball ETFs/ETNs such as GBTC, many OTC/penny stocks etc May not work (worse yet, those will be sold prior to transfer

From a quick search of this thread, it looks like an IRA bonus may have been given, and put into the taxable account.
I suppose anyone wanting an IRA could try to get something in writing.
We support:
Brokerage Accounts (Individual, Joint)
Retirement Accounts (Traditional, Roth, SEP IRAs)
Trust Accounts
Custodial Accounts

Doesn't work for me.
I've seen M1 bonuses regularly come through ACATS. I talk about M1 so I should probably have lived experience using their service.
I have used Vanguard, Fidelity, Schwab, Ameritrade, Interactive Brokers, Merrill Edge, Chase YouInvest, Stockpile, Optionshouse, Ally Invest, eTrade (for a brief period after they bought Optionshouse), Zecco, TradeKing (briefly after they bought Zecco), OptionsXpress, Tastyworks, Sharebuilder (when it was owned by ING) and I'm sure I'm forgetting some others. The brokers I have never used that give bonuses are Lightspeed, Tradestation, Webull, and a few others and I am saving those for higher bonuses.

This bonus was one of the quickest to post. I received it the day after my account hits $10k.

Hello everyone, I am very interested in the tastyworks $10,000.00 transfer for $500.00 bonus - I just wanted to be absolutely sure that I will NOT be forced to make any trades. Would I just be able to leave the $10,000.00 and $500.00 bonus there for 90 days and then withdraw an even $10,500.00 after those 90 days without any fees?
Thank you for your help.

Is there any reason not to park the funds in VTI (or something of that nature) for the 90 day duration?

Depends on how you intend to withdraw the $10,500 (or whatever the VTI is worth after 90 days).
Tastyworks charges $75 for an outgoing ACAT Transfers. But maybe you can get the incoming brokerage to reimburse you for it?
If you transfer via ACH (no fee), you'd have to sell the VTI first, which would incur a short-term capital gain or loss.
Either approach might be worth it; that's up to you.

What are you going to do with the VTI? To transfer out, there is a fee. To withdraw cash, there is no fee. Of course you can sell VTI and transfer the cash. I generally do not like to invest in stock market for short durations.

sycamore & student - thanks for your insight.
I am taking advantage of the tastyworks bonus. I was planning to park the dollars in a couple ETF's, but you bring up a good point on creating a short-term gain. I still may do so and know I will pay the fee for the transfer. If the money grows over 90 days, between the bonus and the growth, I won't be too upset over the $75 transfer fee. If it drops, I may just let it ride there. I was going to invest this money in my personal brokerage account anyway.

I'm parking my $10.5k in VUSB and plan to sell it before I leave, unless I can convince Fidelity or Merrill Edge to reimburse me the $75 outgoing ACAT fee. The cash came out of my emergency fund in the first place so I figured an ultra short bond fund would be a good interim place to park it. And by nature that kind of fund doesn't tend to generate much capital gains or losses when you sell it, so that's a plus. Its 30-day SEC yield is currently 0.47%, so almost as good as 0.50% my cash was earning at Ally previously (plus or minus changes in the NAV of course).

I received my $100 bonus from Fidelity today for opening a new account and depositing $50 (FIDELITY100 promo). So it took about 3 weeks to receive the bonus from account open/funding.
I did receive the promo registration confirmation email when I opened the account. My spouse opened an account and funded on the same time I did and did not get the promo registration confirmation email. She has a secure message from Fidelity where the CS rep confirmed she is registered and will get the bonus, but to contact them if the bonus does not show up 25 days after the account opening date. Her bonus did not show up today, so if doesn't show up, next week she will have to contact Fidelity CS.

I got the promo enrolled message, but no bonus 22 days after account funding, I'm sure we'll get it even if it has to be manual via CS
Edit: got it overnight!
